Jalandhar, October 30, 2014: In order to spread awareness among students about breast cancer, Lovely Professional University and renowned NGO Rani Breast Cancer Trust (RBCT) organised motivational seminar on breast cancer. The RBCT Chandigarh Managing Trustee Bittu Safeena Sandhu inspired LPU students to take strides against breast cancer. Sharing experiences and best practices in preventing, diagnosing and treating breast cancer, committed social worker & motivational speaker Sandhu explained all about fast spreading dangerous disease. She talked about alarming facts, risk factors, statistics, and symptoms in simple manner through presentation, along with short documentaries. She also awakened students about the easy remedy and control of breast cancer.

Later through an awareness rally in the campus, many thousand university students from 29 states and 26 countries were encouraged to come forward and create awareness in their own family, neighbor-hood and society about this silently killing disease. She and her team also examined a few of the students to guide them how to make an easy check for earlier detection of any such possibility. She also thanked LPU for taking an initiative to organize the seminar for the general benefit of the society.

Awakening students, Sandhu told them that healthy diet and regular exercise can reduce risk towards breast cancer as overweight can increase such a risk. She asked students to make full use of the Gym facilities available at the campus. She also alerted male members to be compassionate towards this commonly misunderstood female disease, as all males are attached to female members of their family in one or the other way. She alerted all that such a cancer is fast growing and if it is not controlled, it can be very dangerous. She also informed that Malwa belt of the Punjab state has the highest cases of cancer in the country.

Assuring that LPU would keep on encouraging such activities in future also to help eradicate breast cancer completely from the society, LPU Pro Chancellor Rashmi Mittal thanked Sandhu for her valuable guidance and suggestions. Mittal asked students to make an all-around awakening regarding various risk factors that contribute to the development of breast cancer.
