A 17 year old deaf-mute boy from Patna wows the judges with extraordinary moves and flawless finish despite his many challenges
He has never heard a tune, never heard a beat! Yet when he moves, you can feel the music flow through his body! At the auditions of the latest season of Dance India Dance, 17 year old Rishab, a deaf-mute boy from Patna wowed the judges with his extraordinary moves and flawless finish despite his many challenges. In many ways, he reminded everyone of Ranbir Kapoor’s adorable character from the film Barfi!
Blessed with a sunny disposition and a never-say-die spirit, Rishab used to work at a hotel where he met his dance teacher who showed him “slo mo” moves inspired by Raghav of Dance India Dance Season 3. The teacher was thrilled with the way he grasped the concept of dancing to counts despite never having heard a beat! Seeing his innate sense of rhythm and his hunger for perfection, the teacher encouraged the boy to audition for DID.
So, the young boy and his teacher landed up at the Baroda auditions where he performed to Itni si hasi from Barfi, dancing flawlessly by catching the vibrations of the song and matching steps to mental counts that his teacher had taught him. He got a standing ovation from all three judges. Unable to hold himself back after seeing him celebrate the sheer joy of dancing with a very infectious smile on his face, Mudassar immediately went up to the stage and hugged Rishab. Touched by his passion to perform, Shruti got emotional and drew a heart on a paper to let him know that she loves him … She said “I have never in my life ever seen anybody dance like you. You are God’s child. You are blessed!” No sooner did Shruti express how much she loves him, did Rishab ask her to join him on the stage to dance with him to which Shruti instantly agreed. Rishab is an inspiration for the rest of us to channelize everything we have inside of us and just ‘Dance It Out’!
