Zirakpur, October 19, 2012: In a significant development, the first ever knee replacement surgery has performed at Dashmesh Orthopedic and Trauma Center here.
Kanta Devi (63) the patient who is a resident of Zirakpur, underwent the surgery successfully. She was suffering from severe knee pain and now after the surgery she relieved of her agony. She started walking today only after the two days of surgery.
The surgery was performed by a team led by Dr Harinder Batth and Dr Brijender Gupta both Senior Orthopedic Surgeons at Dashmesh Orthopedic and Trauma Center, Zirakpur.
Talking about the first knee replacement surgery at Zirakpur, Dr Harinder Batth said that though such surgeries were commonly done in tricity, but it was the first of its kind at Zirakpur. The patients of town would now have the benefit of cost and they were not required to travel outside for knee replacement, remarked Dr Batth.
Dr Brijender Gupta said that knee replacement in arthritis was the best option to control pain. It allowed pain free movements and patient could lead an independent life thereafter.
The center was inaugurated just two months back on Patiala highway. It is providing round the clock orthopedic services for fracture and accidental cases. The center has also started providing specialized arthritis and pain clinics, informed Dr Batth.
