Road accident near Dhaliara claims 10 lives; 55 sustain injuries

CAPT AMARINDER SHOCKED AT DEATH OF 10 PILGRIMS FROM AMRITSAR, DIRECTS TEAM TO RUSH TO ACCIDENT SITE
Dharamshala , June 15, 2017: In a tragic road accident occurred near Jawalamukhi 60-Kms from here, as many as ten people (8 males, 2 females) were killed and 55 others sustained injuries. The injured included 24 males, 23 females and 8 children.
Of the injured, 32 were referred to Medical College at Tanda, near here.
The police are still busy in trying to identify the dead bodies.
SP Kangra at Dharamshala Mr S Gandhi said, “The ill-fated bus of New Malwa Bus Service, Amritsar was coming from Amritsar to Jawalaji has fallen down the gorge in Dhaliara near Jawalamukhi, 60-Kms from here.”
Gandhi said, “The primary reason for this incident seems to be over speed and poor knowledge of hill driving." He added the bus departed from Amritsar at 11 pm on Wednesday and reached Chintpurni at 5 am today followed by its next departure from Chintpurni to Jawalamukhi.”
S P Kangra himself visited the accident spot along with DC Kangra. He guided the
rescue operation too.

Meanwhile, a report from Chandigarh said:
"Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh today expressed deep shock and grief over the death of 10 pilgrims from Amritsar in a fatal accident in Himachal Pradesh. He expressed sorrow at the mishap, which also left 45 injured, when a private bus carrying the pilgrims fell into a gorge after negotiating a sharp curve near Dhaliara in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.
On the directions of Captain Amarinder, the Deputy Commissioner Amritsar has rushed a team, comprising a tehsildar, Assistant Civil Surgeon along with police officials, to the mishap site to extend all possible help to the families of the victims, besides ensuring best treatment for the injured.
The Additional Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar was in constant touch with the Sub Divisional Magistrate of Dehra, who was entrusted to oversee the entire relief and rescue operations, an official spokesperson said."

Himachal Governor and CM mourn death of pilgrims
Shimla: Governor Archarya Devvrat and Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh have expressed deep grief over death of 10 pilgrims from Punjab State in a bus accident near Dhaliara in Kangra District on Thursday.

The Governor has expressed sympathies with the bereaved family members and prayed for the peace to the departed souls.

Shri Virbhadra Singh has also expressed his deepest condolences with the families, who lost their near land dear ones in the accident and wished speedy recovery of the injured.

He also directed the district administration to provide all possible assistance to the injured.

The district administration shifted all the injured to the Tanda medical college and hospital and Rs.10,000 each were provided to them as immediate relief. The arrangements have been made by the administration to shift the dead bodies after identification.
