Ludhiana, October 17, 2017: An active and elderly RSS leader Ravinder Gosain was shot dead by two armed unidentified motorcycle-borne persons in the Basti Jodhewal area of this industrial city on Tuesday morning.
The incident occurred on the Kailash Nagar road and near to his home.
The accused were covering their faces with clothes with a motive to hide their identity.
The deceased was around 60.
The deceased was returning to his home after attending the morning RSS shakha when the tragic incident occurred. He was rushed to a local hospital. But, he was declared dead.
The deceased was the sangh pracharak at Mohan Shakha, RSS. He was hit by two bullets.
On hearing about the incident senior police officers including Commissioner of Police RN Dhoke arrived on the spot.
Senior BJP leaders of the district including district BJP chief Ravinder Arora have condemned the incident.
An FIR against unidentified persons has been registered at Basti Jodhewal Police Station.
Police have started a thorough investigation.

CPI Condemns RSS leader’s murder
Ludhiana: The Communist Party of India (CPI) has condemned the murder of RSS leader Ravinder Gosain today morning by the unknown persons. The law and order in the city is getting constantly deteriorated. Even after several months the killers of pastor Masih in Salem Tabri have not been nabbed. Party has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits and thorough investigation behind the motive of the murder. The culture of violence cannot be condoned and has to be condemned by all the citizens.
COMMISSIONER OF POLICE LUDHIANA SPEAKS
In an official release issued by Commissioner of Police Ludhiana, it has been stated that on a statement of the deceased's son Deepak Kumar Police Station Jodhewal have registered a case under Sections 302-34 of the IPC and Section 25 of the Arms Act against unidentified motorcycle-borne persons in connection with the murder of Ravinder Gosain.
He told that a special investigation team had been constituted under the supervision of Gagan Ajit Singh, Deputy Commissioner Police (Investigation), Ludhiana. He said the team would deeply investigate the case by using its secret sources and following scientific methods. He hoped that the team would succeed in tracing the accused soon. The team would submit its weekly reports to Sandeep Garg, ADCP-2 Ludhiana and Rajveer Singh, ADCP-4 Ludhiana.
