SEIZURE: Heroin worth Rs.40 crore seized

Ferozepur, January 24, 2013:  The seizure of narcotics along the 553-km-long border that the country shares with Pakistan has become a regular feature and the credit goes to an enhanced vigil by the Border Security Force to combat heightened smuggling activities in the area  in association with the police department, despite change of modus operandi all the times.  

A tip-off was received by Raghbir Singh Sandhu, SP(Detective) and Baljit Singh, DSP, Guruahrsahai that Malkiat Singh of Fattewala (Jallo Ke), who is presently in Ferozepur Jail, falling under Mamdot police station is doing the business of smuggling of heroin from Pakistan and he has kept eight packets of heroine in his house and his wife Rajo Bai knew the fact.

Varinder Pal Singh, SSP Ferozepur, informed to the media persons that on this information, Gobinder Singh, in-charge Lakho Ke Behram police station after registration of a case under NDPS Act and the house of Malkit Singh was raided in the presence of DSP Guruahrsahi and recovered eight packets of one Kg each of heroin on the designated spot in, given by Rajo Bai, the house where animals are kept. 

A thorough investigation is being carried out by the police and more vital clues are expected to come on surface relating to smuggling by the accused.
