SGPC to give financial help to family members of Sikhs killed in US: Makkar

Ferozepur, August 11, 2012: The families of Gurdwara victims will be given financial help of Rs.2 lakh each, besides honouring with a Gold Medal to Satwant Singh Malloke for fighting with the killer and making prayers for the welfare of the Sikhs by organising Sri Akand Path Bhog.

Stating this, the SGPC chief Avtar Singh Makkar on his visit to Gurdwara Jamini Sahib at Bazidpur near here, to inaugurate the new building in the complex while talking to the media, added Gurcharan Singh Tohra Institute of Advance Study in Sikhism Institute is being opened at Patiala and children will be given education in Guru Ki Kashi of the courses for Rs.5 lakhs and after  by getting one year field training, they could work in Shrimoni Committee College .

Speaking about the shoot -out in US where six worshippers were killed in Sunday’s rampage at Wisconsin Sikh Gurdwara, he said that US has taken care of the sentiments of the Sikhs and have cooperated at all levels.  Lowering down the US Flag half-mast ordered by US President Barak Obama, as a mark of respect to Sikhs, is appreciable. 

He further said that he had met the senior leaders of the US with regard to shoot out in at Winconsin Gurdwara where six people were killed, have assured to take strict action against those who have plotted this act and assured to take strong steps for the security of the Sikhs in America.

On this occasion, Baba Mohinder Singh Kar Sewa Wale, Baba Gurmail Singh, Kar Sewa Wali, Darshan Singh Sher Khan Sat Pal Singh Talwandi Bhai, Pritam Singh Malsian, Balwinder Singh Bahmba Landa, Gurmit Singh Buh, all members SGPC, Master Gurnam Singh, Jaswinder Singh Bootewala, Jagir Singh, Manager, Jaspal Singh deputy manager, Bhai Lakhwinder Singh, head granthi, Sham Singh Sheena, Prof.Sukhdev Singh, Saroop Singh, Gurwant Singh, Saraj Singh, Sampuran Singh Mamdot and others were present.
