Shobha Yatra in memory of Bhagwan Dev Atma’s 162nd B'day

Ferozepur, December 18, 2012: “Shobha Yatra” was organised by Dev Samaj College for Women, Ferozepur in memory of 162nd birthday of Bhagwan Dev Atma, founder of Dev Samaj, a Science Grounded Religion. 

Dev Samaj, a religious and social reform society, was founded on 16th February, 1887 in Lahore which laid emphasis on maintaining a strict moral standard and a significant social radicalism.

In this Shobha Yatra, Dr. Madhu Prashar, principal, M. R. Manchanda, secretary, managing committee, Dr. Rajinder Sharma, Ajay Batta, advocate, member managing committee, teaching and non-teaching staff alongwith  about 600 students of Dev Samaj College of Education, Dev Samaj Senior Secondary School and Dev Samaj Model School participated. 

Shobha Yatra started from college campus and passed through the main bazaar ended at the main gate of the college.

The ‘Gatka’ by the Sikh troupe was also played at the crossings during the Shobha Yatra.   

The entire campus was decorated with flowers and lights.  The portrait of Bhagwan Dev Atma was placed on the open jeep which was fully decorated with flowers. On the way, the bhajans of Dev Samaj were recited “Suno Suno e duniya walo, Dev Guru ki amar kahani” and “Bhagwan tumhare charno me, jise aane ka adhikar mila”. 

The Shobha Yatra was welcomed by the citizens, shopkeepers from the core of hearts irrespective of caste and religion and even at certain places sweets were also distributed.

The students and members of the Dev Samaj were wearing the traditional yellow colour clothes, turbans and dupattas and taking in hand the flag of Dev Samaj “Viaya Pataka”.
