Sukhbir Badal and other senior SAD leaders booked for blocking highway

Ferozepur, December 9, 2017: In a late night development, police has booked Sukhbir Badal , former Deputy Chief Minister and President, Shiromani Akali Dal along with Bikramjit Majithia, Ranjit Singh Brahmpura, former MLA Hari Singh Zira and his son Avtar Singh Minna, District President SAD (Rural), Kanwaljit Singh Rozy Barkandi, MLA, Muktsar and 150-200 unidentified SAD workers for blocking National Highway-54 at Harike Headworks.

It is pertinent to mention here that for the last two days SAD workers were holding a dharna and blocked the Harike Headworks due to which the connection between Malwa and Majha had cut off and thousands of commuters had to bear the brunt.

The dharna was lifted last evening following all the major demands of the Akalis including arrest of Congress workers and withdrawal of Section 307 of the IPC against Akali leaders were met.

The police have booked the SAD leaders under Sections 341, 283, 431, 188, 148 of the BNH Act 1956.
