THREE BOOKED in Army recruitment scam

Ferozepur, February 24, 2013: As per the crime report released by the SSP Ferozepur, the Ferozepur police, in a joint operation by Military Intelligence (MI) and the Punjab Police (PP) have arrested three persons namely Gurdeep Sngh, Gurwinder Singh and Baldev Singh, allegedly involved in a recruitment scam, for getting clearance in the written exam to get jobs in the Army and a case under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the IPC has been registered against the accused at the City police station.

According to Vibhor Kumar Sharma, SDP(HQ), the accused had been cheating youths for providing them jobs in the Army and some firearms and old question papers have been seized from the arrested youths, related to the entrance examination for recruitment in the Army and admit cards of some aspirants.  The accused used to charge Rs.1.5 lakh to Rs.3 lakh from every candidate by promising them assured selection in the Army and so far, about 35 candidates have been identified from whom they had taken money.

Another accused, Kuldeep Singh, an Armyman posted in Jalandhar, was yet to be arrested, the DSP said.
