Chennai, April 19, 2017: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized its 3rd edition of CII Startupreneurs 2017 in Chennai. The event offered an excellent platform for budding entrepreneurs and Startups to interact with leading investors and also showcased their innovative business ideas.
Minister for Finance and Fisheries, Government of Tamil Nadu Mr D Jayakumar while addressing the Valedictory Session of CII Startupreneurs 2017, highlighted various initiatives of Government of Tamil Nadu in promoting growth of MSMEs and entrepreneurs in the State.
He said that Tamil Nadu has unique advantage in promoting startups compared with other States in view of the strong ecosystem that exists in the State. He listed out various initiatives and plans of the State Government such as; setting up of an Electronic hardware hub in Sriperumbudur, Healthcare Park in Kancheepuram, Startup warehouse in Chennai and Coimbatore, etc which would offer immense opportunity for budding entrepreneurs to explore new business opportunities in various industry sectors.
Speaking on the initiatives for the MSME sector, Mr Jayakumar said that the Government is proposing for Clusters in Textiles, Sea foods and Food products sectors in Kancheepuram, Karur, Ramanathapuram and Dharmapuri districts. Towards developing the MSMEs in the State the Government has allocated Rs.532 crores in the current budget, which is over 50% higher than the previous budgetary provisions made, he added.
He invited CII to engage with the Government of Tamil Nadu in developing the entrepreneurs and small scale industries in the State.
Mr R Doraikkannu Hon’ble Minister for Agriculture and Agricultural Engineering Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr Mangat Ram Sharma IAS, Principal Secretary to the Government, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu; Mr Navas Meeran, Past Chairman, CII Southern Region, Chairman and Managing Director, Eastern Group of Companies; Mr Ravichandran P, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu & President, Danfoss Industries Pvt Ltd; Mr Arun Jain, Past Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu & Chairman & Managing Director, Intellect Design Arena Ltd amongst others participated at the Valedictory Session.
