TRAINING COURSE FOR J&K FARMERS CONCLUDES AT PAU

Ludhiana, December 13, 2017: A five-day training course on the “Cultivation of Cereals, Oilseeds and Vegetables” concluded at the Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). In all, 27 farmers from Jammu and Kashmir participated in the course, conducted under the auspices of the Directorate of Extension Education, PAU.

Dr Ashok Kumar, Director of Extension Education, PAU, welcomed the farmers to the University and highlighted the role of PAU in agricultural development of Punjab.

Addressing the farmers, Dr T.S. Riar, Professor of Extension Education and Course Coordinator, urged them to adopt PAU developed technologies for earning good income. Every farmer must contribute to food buffer of the country, he stressed. Dr Riar said efforts should be made to increase the production and income of farmers by forming various clubs. He informed that the trainees were apprised of the agronomic practices required for successful cultivation of cereals, oilseeds and vegetables. Thrust was also laid on farm machinery, he added.
