Training course on use of ICTs concludes at PAMETI

Ludhiana, November 4, 2014: A training programme on “Use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) for sharing of Agricultural Knowledge” concluded at Punjab Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (PAMETI), Punjab Agricultural University (PAU). As many as 20 participants from state agriculture department and allied sectors participated in the programme.

Dr H. S Dhaliwal, Director, PAMETI said that for the development of farm sector and upliftment of socio-economic status of state farming community, the farmers must be empowered with the right farm knowledge. ICTs can play a vital role in this regard, he observed, while adding that it is essential for state extension officials to be aware of the latest ICTs.

During the programme, participants were imparted skills related to writing for print and electronic media; photography, photo editing, creating effective presentations etc. Trainees interacted with S. Navdeep Singh, Program Executive AIR FM Gold, Ludhiana Radio Station. Besides, Dr R. K. Dhaliwal, Director Students’ Welfare, PAU gave practical tips to the trainees about delivering effective TV talk followed by a role play session. Dr Sarbjit Singh Professor of Journalism, PAU and Dr H. S. Dhaliwal, Director, PAMETI motivated the participants to adopt ICTs so that the gap between knowledge generation and its dissemination to grass root level can be reduced.
