UGC approves up-gradation of PU Department of Biophysics

Chandigarh, December 21, 201 :  University Grants Commission has approved the up-gradation of the Panjab University (PU),Chandigarh, Department of Biophysics from Departmental Research Support-II(DRS-II) to Department of Special Assistance-I (DSA-I) programme for a period of 5 years from April, 2015 to

March, 2020. 

 This was disclosed by the  Panjab University,  Chandigarh Vice Chancellor  Arun Kumar Grover today(Sunday)  while addressing the PU Syndicate meeting. He informed that the department would get Rs 127.50 lakhs and salary of one Project Fellow during the period.

Grover said that the University would receive two AC Buses through MPLAD funds provided to PU to promote Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC) on the recommendation of PU Fellow  Pawan Kumar Bansal. The services of these buses shall commence on the auspicious occasion of ‘Lohri’ festival in January 2015.

Grover informed that Chairman, University Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences,  Bhupinder Singh Bhoop has been selected for the prestigious ‘Professor M. R. Baichwal Pharma Oration Award’ by Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT), Mumbai. 

Bhoop has been honored for his unparalleled contribution to pharmaceutical education, research and profession, especially in the domain of developing novel and nano-structured drug delivery systems using Quality by Design (QbD) and Advanced Pharma co-kinetic modeling, he added.

PU VC informed that the University has received a donation of rupees eleven lakhs from Dr. Harvansh Singh Judge as a contribution with respect to ‘Panjab University’s Registrar’s accommodation/furnishings’. (SK Vyas/Jalandhar)
