Veteran Soldier on Cycle for a National Cause

Ludhiana, March 24, 2017: A retired Soldier is touching every nook and corner of country on a cycle to create awareness in public about the those Indian soldiers who laid down their lives for the cause of the nation. Major General (Retd) Somnath Jha retired from Indian Army on 30th September and left on a mission on Cycle on 19th October 2016.

So far, General Jha has covered more than 9000 kms on cycle and passed 26 Indian States. He plans to cover around 12000 kms in his journey. According to him, around 21000 Indian soldiers have sacrificed their lives so far for upholding the unity and integrity of the country in various battles and operations. Doing cycling for 2 minutes for each Soldier across the country will make 42000 minutes of cycling in the total journey, Mr. Jha told. He has so far peddled for 36000 minutes.

General Jha gave the message to public that we are living peacefully at homes because our soldiers are guiding the frontiers at night. Also, if these soldiers have sacrificed their lives, it becomes our duty and responsibility to remember them and care for their families.

General Jha was welcomed by Col. Darshan Dhillon, Zone coordinator, RTI, AAP and by Mr. Amrit Pal singh, sector coordinator, AAP at Dakha office of Aam Aadmi Party. Both accompanied General Jha on cycles till Ludhiana.
