Bengaluru, October 25, 2017: VR Bengaluru, the award winning, community-oriented, lifestyle centre in Bengaluru, has won new honours in the category of Marketing (Public Relations and Events) at The ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards – among the most prestigious accolades in the retail industry. VR Bengaluru took home the Gold award for its month-long Whitefield Art Collective, which attracted record footfalls during its duration. The center was also nominated for its distinctive and innovative design in the Best in Design and Development (New Mixed Use Development) category – an acknowledgement in itself. The ICSC Awards recognizes excellence within the shopping center industry in the Asia Pacific region and is considered the equivalent of the Oscars for the industry.

Speaking about the honour, Rohit George, Managing Director, said, “It is a matter of immense pride for us to be awarded by the jury at the ICSC Asia Pacific Shopping Center Awards. VR Bengaluru is a one-of its-kind lifestyle destination focused on bringing local communities together. We are very proud to see it recognized by peers, nationally and internationally, for its marketing initiatives and unique community focused programming.”

The recognition comes on the back of various event properties designed and executed by VR Bengaluru through the year, to expand community engagement. In keeping with its philosophy of Connecting Communities©, VR Bengaluru curates engaging platforms for immersive experiences, promoting locally relevant programming related to food, music, art, entertainment, socially relevant causes and retail. The center has been awarded for its marketing initiatives pertaining to the all-encompassing art festival – Whitefield Art Collective (WAC). The 2017 edition of the month-long Whitefield Art Collective included over 100 works from paintings to sculptures to audio visual installations done by nationally celebrated artists, and young, upcoming talent from across the country. It also hosted a stimulating panel discussion on the topic ‘Where Art & Design meet Business’. This event also generated significant buzz, and media publicity worth over Rs. 30 million.
