Ludhiana, February 14, 2013: Police have recovered 13 kgs of opium from three persons at a naka laid opposite Deepak Petrol Pump Kaind.

The accused were travelling in a car.

Addressing a press conference here today, Gurpreet Singh, ACP, Gill (Ludhiana rural police) told that the accused had been identified as Jawant Singh of Rampur village, his wife Gurmeet Kaur (present Member Panchayat Rampur village) and another woman Suman hailing from Kaleva village in Rajasthan.

The arrested three accused failed to show any documents to carry the consignment following which they were booked under the NDPS Act at Police Station Dehlon.

He told that the preliminary investigations revealed that the consignment was brought from Rajasthan. They had bought the consignment at around 8 lakh and were to sell it here at around Rs. 13 lakh.

Police are making further investigations.
