WORLD VETERINARY DAY CELEBRATED AT VILLAGE BUDH SINGH WALA

Ludhiana, June 7, 2017: On 5th June world Veterinary day was celebrated at village Budh Singh Wala, Moga. During the celebration the importance and need for adopting animal rearing as an alternative and subsidiary profession along with agriculture and practices was highlighted.

Dr N.S. Gill (Deputy Director, KVK, Moga) informed the farmers regarding the facilities (seeds, trainings, demonstrations, guidance, exposure visits, soil and water testing facilities) provided by KVK, Moga. Farmers were lectured regarding fodder production practices throughout the year and silage making by Amanpreet {Asst. Prof. (Agronomy)}. Farmers were also made aware regarding the need based crop residue machinery and forage harvesters by Er Ankit (Assistant Professor Agricultural Engineering).

Young aspiring farmers who are willing to venture into the field of dairy farming were lectured and practically demonstrated hygienic artificial insemination techniques, use of quality semen and various protocols to be followed for heat detection in milch animals by Dr. Deol (Veterinary Officer at PDDB, Gill). Information regarding common diseases prevalent in dairy animals their management and control as well as other animal husbandry practices to be adopted for successful dairy farming was dissipated by Dr. Sahiba Mann Grewal (Assistant Professor Animal Science).
