Yoga Day celebrated with fervor and zeal in Ferozepur

Ferozepur, June 21, 2017: Physical fitness is at the core of the Army ethos and easily assimilates yoga as one of the best practices for wholesome physical fitness. Keeping this motto in mind, the International Yoga Day was celebrated at Ferozepur Cantonment area under the aegis of Golden Arrow Division.

This mass Yoga event was attended by more than 5,000 Army personnel, their families and children at three different locations thereby augmenting the national effort to patronize our cultural heritage. Giving details, Major General Rajesh Kundra, SM, General Officer Commanding, Golden Arrow Division emphasized everyone to assimilate & spread awareness about benefits of Yoga.

On this occasion, Ferozepur Cantonment Board also organized yoga events for ex-servicemen, civilians and families within the cantonment in which around 1325 NCC cadets participated in five different events organized by 13 Punjab NCC Battalion. On this occasion, trained yoga instructors guided the congregation through different Yogasanas while explaining their benefits for good health. The gathering appreciated the initiative taken by the PM Narendra Modi for making the world realize the importance of Yoga.

The District Administration in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra, Sant Nirankari Mission, Art of Living and other organizations, also organized a district level programme in which Gourav Garg, SSP, Ferozepur, Rajvir Singh, SP (H), Ranjit Singh, Assistant Commissioner, Dr. Gurminder Singh, Civil surgeon, Ferozepur, Dr. Rakesh Sharma, Director, Ayurved, Punjab, Dr. Kiran Sharma, District Ayurvedic Yunnani Officer, Ashok Behal, Secretary, Red Cross and others were present.

The BSF personnel belonging to Punjab Frontier also celebrated the World Yoga Day and organized Yoga Camps at BOP (Border Out Post) level.
