Dharamshala, November 11, 2014: Cricketer Yuvraj Singh on Tuesday, officially launched his cricket academy in association with HPCA at Bilaspur, in the spectacular Luhnu Cricket ground of HPCA. This ground is Surrounded by waters of Gobind Sagar reservoir,of bhakhra Dam.
At the show Yuvraj Singh said, “I am thrilled to have finally launched Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence here at Bilaspur today. The interest and amount of talent that the state possesses is outstanding. HPCA is one of the most dynamic cricket associations and their growth map has been exceptional. The players will benefit a lot from congenial weather conditions and world class infrastructure created by the association. It is not an easy job to create such kind of a set up on hilly terrains and I salute the spirit and dedication of HPCA team led by their bold President, Anurag Thakur.”
According to sources this academy will be fully equipped with modern bowling machines, video analysis, novel drills for the players, cross-over camps and guest coach will also visit this center at regular intervals.
Commenting on this association, Anurag Thakur, President, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association said, “It is a moment of pride for us that an international player of such a calibre has joined hands with us to promote and encourage the budding talent in the state. The young talent will learn some valuable lessons of the game and life in general from Yuvraj and I am sure this will benefit them in long run.”
“We are thankful to Yuvraj and the team of YSCE for bestowing upon us this honour. With this new collaboration, we would be looking at providing best facilities and coaching to the players of Himachal Pradesh. This association will bring about a lot of exposure for the young players as we would be organising cross-over training camps for the players of YSCE across centres. These camps will teach different techniques and expose the players to varying weather and pitch conditions” said, Vishal Marwaha, Secretary, Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association.
Yuvraj Singh Centre of Excellence is currently operational across Delhi & NCR at four locations and one at Jammu. Amongst the four centres in Delhi, three are being run in partnership with Pathways World School and one with Jaypee Atlantis -- The Club, Jaypee Greens. The KC Sports Club, Jammu recently launched the 5th centre. The centres currently train over 250 students in the state with ultra-modern training methods. They are also coming up with two more centres at Gwalior and Ambala.
