Selected by a group of remarkable industry editors, the exquisite product, Diplora will be displayed for editors of various publications to view and vote. Winners will be announced during The Editor’s Choice and Press Breakfast on Tuesday, June 6 at the Press Lounge.
The JCK Design Center Editor’s Choice Award honours designers who break the boundaries of innovation and originality, while combining new trends and classic ideas. This award has been crafted to celebrate imagination and honour excellence in craftsmanship. Editors and industry bloggers are invited to judge the industry’s most compelling jewellery designers and awe-inspiring products.
DIPLORA : Description of the Piece
This elegant ring is a harmonious of spirals and petals, two motifs found extensively in nature. This beautiful piece is adorned with a deep blue sapphire, which represents life giving rain water falling on the curved petals of the flower, which is eager to envelop it within itself. It is designed as a single spiral surface winding down to transform seamlessly into a ring.
Piece Inspiration
Diplora is a deconstructed version of the gerbera flower, reimagined by reducing the vertical density of the spiral petals to accentuate each petal. The Spiral has been expressed mathematically through a fibonacci series based algorithm and has been superimposed over a triangular frame, which represents the trinity of life: mind, body and spirit.
