“Mela Teean DA” celebrated
Ferozepur, September 9, 2012: At village, Nurpur Sethan, which is known as one of the best village of India, celebrated “10th - Mela Teean Da” jointly by Sher-e-Punjab Sports Club and Youth Welfare Club, which was inaugurated by Pritam Singh Johal, ADC Ferozepur and Baldev Singh Bhullar, Deputy Director, Small Savings.
Speaking to the mediapersons, the organisers said, the motive behind the celebration of this festival is to keep alive the inheritance traditions of Punjabis.
The festival was attended by thousands of villagers adjoining to Nurpur Sethan village besides the various officers of the district administration.
The audience was thrilled with the presentations of folk songs, dances, bhangra, giddha, Haryanavi dance, Malwai gidhha, Jhumar, Vanjara etc. Satwinder Bugga’s song “Rabba mere haal da mehrum tu”, Voice of Punjab winner Anantpal Billa’s Malki, Mele vich pen bolian and Mar Jani Changi Lagdi and Gurdev Singh finalists of Voice of Punjab;s – Kandia da ki dosh, were the attraction of the festival.
On the occasion, Punjab Minister, Janmeja Singh Sekhon announced Rs.1 lakh and MLA Joginder Singh Jindu, Rs.50000 each to both for the clubs from his funds
G.S.Pannu, SDM, Ferozepur, Sarabjit Singh Bedi, District Youth Coordinator, NYK, Ravi Kant Gupta, Dev Group of Institutions and Abhishek Arora, Director, English Speaking Institute were also present.
