“Working with Manoj Joshi is like being in an acting school for free…” ~ Manisha Rawat as Rumi in Mangalam Dangalam
Q - Tell us something about your character ‘Rumi’ in Mangalam Dangalam. Manisha: My character’s name in the show is Rumi. She is very bubbly and always full of life. She loves her father limitlessly and has always been obedient, adhering to everything he says. Rumi usually has a carefree attitude, but she becomes innocent in front of her dad because she loves him a lot and cannot see him getting hurt. Q – How is Mangalam Dangalam different from any other show on television? Manisha: I have never come across a show showcasing such a unique bond between a father-in-law and son-in-law. The ‘Dangal’ between them sets Mangalam Dangalam apart from any other show on television. Q – How is the on screen chemistry between Karanvir and you? Manisha: In the show, Arjun gets engaged to my best friend but slowly, I start understanding that Arjun is the man I have always wanted to be with. He takes care of my family and even defends me in various situations. Arjun backs out of the engagement when he realizes that he has the same feelings for me. This is a gist of the kind of Chemistry we share on the show. Q – What made you say yes to this show? Manisha: I have always wanted to play a character like Rumi on television. It was a dream role for me. So, when I was briefed about my character in the show, I did not even bat an eyelid before saying yes to it. Q – Tell us something about the bonding between you and your on screen father Manoj Joshi. Manisha: I am amazed with the kind of experience Manoj holds. Sometimes, I just sit is one corner and observe the finesse with which he deliveries his dialogues. When we are shooting together, he does not concentrate only on his dialogues, he also guides me and shows me various methods to improve my acting skills. Working with Manoj Joshi is like being in an acting school for free, because I get to learn a lot. I am lucky to have gotten the opportunity to work with such a stellar actor in my first show itself. Q – How would you want your prospective spouse to convince your father? Manisha: I have never thought about this before, but if he gets to know me well, it would not be difficult for him to convince my father. He just has to make my father believe that he is the right man for me and can take care of me, just like my father has been, for the rest of his life. Q – When you need to choose the right man for yourself, how much would your father’s opinion count? Manisha: I do not know half as much about myself, as my father does. He is the one who helps me understand myself. So, his opinion matters the most to me, because he knows the qualities I would be looking for while choosing the right man for myself. Q – Since you have already started shooting. How has your experience been so far? Manisha: Like I just said, it is like a free acting school for me. Everyone has been so supportive, despite me making multiple mistakes initially. They have been strict with me as well, of course, but I have got to learn a lot. It has been a very good experience altogether and I never imagined I would get a chance to work with such talented artists. Q – Do you think Arjun is marriage material? If yes, then why so? Manisha: Arjun is the only sane one in the family. He is the only one who thinks practically and not emotionally like us. I feel this makes him a perfect match for Rumi. Q – Would you like to convey any message to all our viewers? Manisha: Please do watch our show Mangalam Dangalam on Sony SAB. I am sure you all are going to enjoy watching the ‘Dangal’ filled with humor between the ‘Sasur’ and ‘Jamai’.
