1000 Khelo India Centres shall be functional by August 15, 2023: Anurag Thakur

Dharamsala, October 10, 2022: Union Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that the Khelo India program is playing an important role in nurturing sports talent across the country. He said that 1000 Khelo India Centres are being constructed under the Khelo India programme. Out of these, approval has been given to open 590 centres so far. By August 15, 2023, all the centres will be dedicated to sports persons across the country.
He said that the Government of India would build centres and institutes of excellence related to sports in Himachal Pradesh so that in the coming years the sportspersons of Himachal would bring medals to the country.
Anurag Thakur said this during the foundation stone laying program of Indoor Stadium in Jaswan Paragpur in Himachal on Monday. The Minister laid the foundation stone of Indoor Stadium to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.31 crore in Pragpur. On this occasion, he said, “efforts are being made to provide necessary modern facilities to the players in this indoor sports stadium. With the construction of this sports stadium, the players of the area will get the best sports services and training near home and the country will get players of national and international level from this hill state.”
On this occasion, DC Kangra Dr. Nipun Jindal, SP Kangra Khushal Sharma, SDM Dehra Sankalp Gautam, DSP Dehra Vishal Verma, and many other officials were present.
