Pune, August 8, 2017: One of India’s biggest running circuit, the 10K INTENCITY Run will kick-off on 10th September 2017 from Pune followed by Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Baroda, Delhi and will culminate on 11th February 2018 in Goa. It was announced today at an event held in the presence of eminent sportspersons Dhanraj Pillay (Padmashri, Olympian, Khel Ratna Award), Pralhad Sawant (General Secretary, Maharashtra Athletics Association) and Puneri Paltan Team (currently one of the top performing teams in the Pro Kabaddi League) - Deepak Hooda (Captain), Dharamraj Cherlathan (Vice Captain), Sandeep Narwal and Girish Maruti Ernak.

The first edition of the 10K INTENCITY Run will be held between September 2017 to February 2018 across 10 cities of the country by Andy Event Management with the support of Athletics Federation of India, Ministry of Sports & Youth Affairs, Ministry of Forest - Government of Maharashtra.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Anand Menezes, Ex-Olympian, Founder & Director, Andy Event Management said, “With 10K INTENCITY Run initiative, we want to reach out to the masses at large and create awareness of a Green, Clean and Healthy India. This initiative will also serve one of our core ideologies which is to give back to sportspersons of India. Through the support of the Indian Olympians Association (An association of former Olympians), we will be donating a part of the money generated to former and current Olympians along with aspiring sportspersons so that they can plough money back in creating a sound infrastructure system which will not only inspire existing sportspersons but also create future Olympians of our country.”

There are three categories for runners - 10 km, 5 km and 2 km respectively, who can get registered. The amateur and elite runners could register for 10 km Run whereas aspiring kids could register themselves for 2km Future Champions Run. The event will also conduct a 5km Fun Run to create more enthusiasm among runners.

Commenting on the association with 10K INTENCITY Run, Mr. Kailash Kandpal, CEO, Puneri Paltan said, "It is a matter of pride for us at Puneri Paltan to be associated with 10K INTENCITY Run initiative. Fitness plays a very important role in the game of Kabaddi and running is the best exercise when it comes to increase the stamina and develop a good fitness regime. I would like to congratulate Andy Event Management for taking up such noble initiative to create awareness about greener, cleaner and healthier India by promoting running. In future also, Puneri Paltan and our entire team will continue to support such noble initiatives which will promote sportsmanship and inspire youth of this country to take up sports as a career."

Deepak Hooda, Captain, Puneri Paltan said, "This is a great initiative to spread awareness about health and fitness. Being health conscious is of utmost importance. For us Kabaddi players, fitness is the key to last for a 3-month long season. As a sportsperson from a humble background, I am extremely happy to know that along with creating awareness, this event will also be donating funds to Olympians and their academy through the Olympians Association of India.”

“The core message of the initiative is Run for Green and Healthy India, ties back strongly to our Honourable Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi’s ongoing efforts for a Cleaner and Greener India. As conscious citizens, we should strive to do our bit for the environment. I strongly urge all the citizens including kids and people from all strata of the society to participate in the event as I am also going to be a part of it,” said Vinod Tawde, Minister of Sports & Youth Affairs.

Sudhir Mungantiwar, Minister of Finance, Planning and Forest said, “India has the highest youth population in the world, and if you have a healthy nation to go with it, a stronger India will emerge. Under the able leadership of our Honourable Prime Minister, we are on our way to becoming a cleaner India and simultaneously we must also work towards being a Greener India. Let’s achieve the dream of clean city and green city and come together for this initiative. I would like to take this opportunity to wish the organizers the very best for this great endeavor.”

Adille Sumariwalla, President of Athletics Federation of India said, “This is the first time in India that someone is doing charity for sports and Olympians. While we appreciate that charity is given for other noble causes, having such a charity for sportspersons is a very good thing. Also, the cause of promoting the run for a healthy and green cause is the need of the hour. The 2km Future Champions Run will definitely inspire young children and I appeal everyone to join in this initiative.”

Giving the runners a picturesque view of the city, the 10K INTENCITY Run aims to create awareness by spreading the message of Green, Healthy India among city denizens. Entries for the 10K INTENCITY Run begins from today and runners will have an opportunity to enter their application for the 10K INTENCITY Run upto 1-week prior to the run. The total prize money for the winners of the 10K INTENCITY Run across cities is Rs. 50 lacs.
