Jalandhar, March 4, 2013: Twelve persons, including 11 school children, died in a major road accident occurred on Jalandhar-Nakodar road, near Doheera village, on Monday morning.
Atleast 12 school children are said to have sustained injuries in the accident.
According to available information, the deceased were travelling in a school bus that was on its way to the Akal Academy’s school branch at Doheera village at around 8 am on Monday.
It was a head on collision between the school bus and a truck.
Eleven school children and the bus driver have died in the mishap.
Besides, at least 12 children have sustained injuries in the accident. The injured have been rushed to different hospitals at Nakodar and Jalandhar.
The deceased children were below the age of ten years.
Seven children died on the spot.
Four children succumbed to their injuries in the hospitals.
Police parties have rushed to the spot.
Police have registered a case in this regard.
Further police investigations are on.
