11209327 tonnes paddy procured in Punjab

Chandigarh, November 7, 2013: The Government agencies and private millers procured more than 11209327 tonnes of Paddy till last evening.
Out of total procurement of 11209327 tonnes of paddy in all the procurement centers of Punjab, the Government agencies procured 10621268 tonnes of paddy (94.8%) till date whereas private traders procured 588059 tonnes (5.2%) of paddy. Till November 06, PUNGRAIN had procured 3228570 tonnes (30.4%) whereas MARKFED procured 2477018 tonnes (23.3%). PUNSUP procured 2384362 tonnes (22.4%), PSWC procured 1034231 tonnes (9.7%) whereas PAFC was able to procure 1079365 tonnes (10.2%) of paddy. The Central Government agency FCI had been able to procure 417722 tonnes (3.9%).
The spokesperson added that District Sangrur with 1311881 tonnes of procurement was leading in procurement operations whereas District Ludhiana with 1229797 tonnes of procurement was at second slot and district Patiala 1142377 tonnes of procurement ranked at third position.
