115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh celebrated at Lyallpur Khalsa College
The 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was celebrated with full enthusiasm by Post Graduate Department of History, NSS Units, NCC and Sports Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar under the guidelines Government of Punjab.
Jalandhar, September 28, 2022: The 115th birth anniversary of Shaheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh was celebrated with full enthusiasm by Post Graduate Department of History, NSS Units, NCC and Sports Department of Lyallpur Khalsa College Jalandhar under the guidelines Government of Punjab. The event started at 7:00 a.m. with a bicycle rally. The bicycle rally was flagged off by Dr. Harjit Singh, the grandson of freedom fighter Hira Singh 'Dard'. In this, the Principal of the College Dr. Gurpinder Singh Samra, Head of History Department Dr. Suman Chopra, Dean of Sports Department Dr. SS Bains, NCC Incharge Dr. Karanbir Singh, NSS Chief Program Officer Prof. Satpal Singh and Dr. Amandeep Kaur from History Department and a large number of students participated. Slogans related to ideology Sardar Bhagat Singh were also raised during the rally. Principal Dr. Samra, in his speech, congratulated the youth for joining the events related to Shaheed Bhagat Singh and added that this birth anniversary has been celebrated at the entire state level. These initiatives will encourage the youth to adopt the ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh in their lives.
The second phase of the event started at 12 noon. A documentary highlighting the life of Shaheed Bhagat Singh was also screened in the college as a joint initiative of the Center for Historical Studies, NSS and NCC. The principal of the college, Dr. Samra, offered flowers to the clay statue of Sardar Bhagat Singh which was made by the student of History Department, Dalip Kumar. Resource person of the session Dr. Gopal Singh Buttar, the former head of the Punjabi Department, discussed the ideology of Bhagat Singh and the students and revealed some lesser known facts about the life of Bhagat Singh. He added that Sardar Bhagat Singh’s philosophy has lot to offer to the young minds of the nation. Along with this, students from the History Club exhibited posters about life and ideology of Shaheed Bhagat Singh and recited poems on the theme of patriotism. Dr. Suman Chopra paid vote of thanks and pledged to keep alive the torch of knowledge as wished by Bhagat Singh.
Continuing the series of this event, during the third phase, at 4:00 pm, a drama 'Inqlab' was performed on the stage by the students of MA History Department which written and directed by Dr. Suman Chopra. Theme of the play was ideology of Bhagat Singh and its relevance in modern times. Dr. Chopra welcomed the chief guest, principal, teachers and students present in the entire event. The stage conduct and vote of thanks was delivered by NSS PO Prof. Satpal Singh. During this event, Prof. S.S.Bains, Prof.Palwinder Singh Bolina, Prof. Karanvir Singh, Prof. Amandeep Kaur, Prof. Harjinder Singh were present.
