120 students given Letter of Appointment on spot during CICU-LPU Mega Job Fair

Ludhiana, April 19, 2014: Chamber of Industrial and Commercial Undertakings –Lovely professional University (CICU-LPU) on Saturday organised “Mega Job Fair” at CICU Complex Focal Point, Ludhiana.  

Around 1000 Students from various streams such as B Tech, Mechanical, Industrial, MBA, HR & IR etc attended the same.  30 companies put up their stalls and interviewed the job seeking students.  120 students were given Letter of Appointment on the spot while approximately 200 of various levels were enlisted, who will be called for 2nd round of interview and will be appointed, thereafter.
Harcharan Singh Gohalwaria, Mayor, Ludhiana inaugurated the Event and while speaking on this occasion, he mentioned that these types of programs should be organised regularly on City & State level.  
Avtar Singh, Prisident, CICU mentioned that the talent available in India is going abroad to get jobs, but CICU will create opportunities in the City for the educated youngsters so that the local Industries can get the best talent so that it can improve the productivity and quality both.   He said, It will also stop the affect of brain draining of Punjab.
Upkar Singh Ahuja, General Secretary, CICU stated that there are more than 39000 SMEs in the City where around 2 lacs youths can be employed instantly, whereas, on the other side, talented students are moving out of Punjab for doing jobs.  CICU will try to give them jobs locally.  He further said that we are trying to establish a Finishing Centre where the students will be given 6 months training after Diploma or Degree so that they become able to get the jobs directly. This will be a unique effort for growth of Industries.
Prof. (Dr.) Lovi Raj Gupta & Dr. Sanjay Modi, both Executive Dean, LPU mentioned that LPU is planning to reduce the Academia and they are taking various initiatives for this; like visiting Industries, providing them soft skill, arranging group of students visits to the Industries where they take up their problems and solve them.  These are some of the unique efforts from LPU.
Various Industrialists that include Manjit Singh Khalsa, Ex-Director, PTIDC, Joga Singh, President, Focal Point Industries Association,  S.S. Passi, Kulwant Sing Salh, Swarn Singh, S B Singh, Rajnish Bansal and Rajinder Singh Sarhali participated in the Inaugural Function.
