1.27 LAKH LITRE “LAHAN” RECOVERED
Ferozepur, April 17, 2019: Tightening the noose of illicit liquor brewing in this border district, Ferozepur police today recovered 1.27 lakh litre “Lahan” from the illegal distilleries situated in the river bed of Sutlej and Beas near border area. As per information available, the sleuths belonging to police had received specific inputs that the accused identified as Kali and his brother Bhindi , Kala and Gurnam Singh, All residents of Village Ali Ke, were involved in illicit brewing of country made liquor (Lahan). While giving more details, Sandip Goyal SSP said that a special task force led by Baljit Singh, SP (D) conducted a raid and recovered the “Lahan” which was stored in 72 plastic sheets. The “Lahan” was later destroyed in Sutlej. A case under sections 61, 1, 14 Excise Act was registered at Sadar police station against the accused Kali, Bhindi, Kala , Gurnam and others(Case number 75 dated 16.04.19). In another case police recovered 300 bottles of liquor from Village Nihanga Wale Jhugge and arrested three accused identified as Sukhdev Singh, Makhan Singh and Nanak Singh while three others managed to escape. A case under sections 61, 1, 14 Excise Act was registered against the accused at Sadar police station (Case number 74 dated 16.04.19).
