Chandigarh, February 22, 2023: The 12th Panjab University Rose Festival is going to be held from 24th to 26th February, 2023.

Prof. R.C. Paul Rose Garden spread over an area of 2.5 acre, has been given a facelift for the Festival. The entrance gates have been beautified and hedges have been better designed. More than 130 varieties of Rose plants are adorning the garden. 8 new varieties have been added this year. Certain varieties having different colours of flowers blossoming in the same plant will add to the beauty of the garden. Some scented varieties of roses are also added.
 
The 12th Panjab University Rose Festival will have the motto of ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ to give green & clean environment message to the general public. 

To explore the hidden talent of students, during the three days festival, competitions will be arranged for different age groups among the School, College and University Students and general public namely Rangoli, Rose Prince & Princess, Painting and Fancy Dress.


The competitions have been receiving great response, particularly the Rose Prince & Princess competition. 

To cater to the need of the visitors, there would be variety of food space in the Food Court. For entertainment of youngsters and children, amusement park and gaming zones will be set up.

A special feature in the festival would be the open flower competition with about 92 nos. of competition.

Space will be provided to sponsors to showcase their products and services which will get vast publicity due to huge gatherings expected at the festival like previous years. 

Several stalls to create awareness among masses on various issues like environment, blood donation, traffic awareness etc. will be put up at 12th Panjab University Rose Festival by Deptt. of Geology, ENACTUS, Deptt. of Environment Sciences, Panjab University;  State Legal Services Authority, U.T., Chandigarh, Govt. Home Science College, Chandigarh, Bharat Vikas Parishad, Traffic Police, Chandigarh etc. 

There will be performances of Folk Artists, Nachhar, Stick Walkers etc., during the 12th Panjab University Rose Festival, arranged by North Zone Cultural Centre. 

The 12th Panjab University Rose Festival will be inaugurated on February 24 by Prof. Renu Vig Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. Prof. Renu Vig, since assuming the office of Vice Chancellor, has taken keen interest in reviving the Panjab University Rose Festival, which could not take place for two years due to COVID-19.

Each day of the festival will see entertaining events in the evening. On the first day i.e. February 24, Hasya Kavi Sammelan will be organised at Old Convocation Ground, Panjab University, Chandigarh, which will feature noted poets like Partap Faujdar, Shambu Shikhar, Mumtaz Nazim, Sunder Kataria, Raj Kumar Dhankad, Jagbir Rathee & others.

On the second day i.e. February 25, there will be performance by Rock Band ‘Parwaz’ and Laughter Show by renowned stand up comedian Jagdeep Singh Bheema. This will be followed by Mr. & Ms. Rose Competition, organised in collaboration with University Institute of Fashion Technology, Panjab University, Chandigarh.

On the third and final day on February 26, Award Distribution Ceremony will be held in the afternoon. The awards will be distributed by Prof. Renu Vig, Vice Chancellor, Panjab University, Chandigarh. In the evening on the same day, performances by Punjabi Singer Lovejeet & Punjabi Singer Jassi Khan will be held.

 

BRIEF 
Chandigarh February 22, 2023: Department of Chemistry Panjab University Chandigarh successfully organized Prof. Ram Chand Paul National Symposium (RCPNS) from Feb 21-22, 2023. Today’s valedictory functionwas started with brief remarks about the last two days event by Prof. Sonal Singhal, Chairperson, Department of Chemistry followed by opening plenary address by Prof. Y. K. Verma, Hon’ble Registrar PU CHD. Prof. Verma emphasized the importance of IPR and entrepreneurship towards sustainable development. Prizes were distributed to the winners for poster and oral presenting participants. Finally the event was ended with a thanking note to all by Dr. Subash Sahoo.
