13 lakh 34 thousand 542 voters to choose 15 MLAs in Kangra district: Dr Jindal

Dharamsala, November 11, 2022: District Election Officer cum Deputy Commissioner Kangra Dr.Nipun Jindal has appealed to all the voters of the district that on the day of polling on November 12, people must come out of their homes and exercise their franchise.

Dr. Nipun Jindal said that 91 candidates are in the fray in 15 assembly seats of Kangra District. Maximum 9 candidates are in the fray in Sulah assembly constituency  and to say about the minimum contestants, there are only four candidates each  from Nagrota and Palampur constituencies .

Dr. Nipun Jindal said that the district Kangra is fully ready to hold  the general elections to be held in the state on November 12
He informed that there are a total 13 lakh 34 thousand 542 voters in district Kangra. Of these, there are 6 lakh 53 thousand 661 female voters and 6 lakh 80 thousand 875 male voters. The number of service voters are  21768. There are 6 expatriate electors living abroad. Apart from this, there are 6 voters of third gender also in the district.

Dr. Nipun Jindal said that 1627 polling stations have been set up for the assembly elections in Kangra district. There are 1625 main and 2 auxiliary polling stations. Two polling stations in each Vidhan Sabha of the district will be operated entirely by women officials. In this way, there will be 30 polling stations in the entire district where only women officials will do the election duty. Apart from this, 7 polling stations in the district shall be operated by the differently-abled personnels  . Two Adarsh Polling Stations have been set up in each Vidhan Sabha. Arrangements have been made for webcasting in 813 polling stations.

He informed that there are 291 vulnerable, 158 critical polling stations in the district. Web casting will be done in all the vulnerable and critical polling stations. On the other hand, due to non-availability of network in Bada Gran polling station of Chhota Bhangal remote area, there are arrangements to do the videography.

He said that micro observers and half a contingent of paramilitary forces have been deployed at 158 critical polling stations, while micro observers have been deployed at 143 out of 291 vulnerable polling stations as a precautionary measure. The remaining 148 vulnerable polling stations will have webcasting and videography arrangements.

Kangra is the highly populated district of the state having maximum number of (15) assembly seats of 68 seat Himachal assembly.

The result of Himachal vidhan sabha shall be out on 8 th of December.
