13000 Polling Stations with vulnerable pockets identified in Punjab
To ensure free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha elections, Special Director General of Police (Spl DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla on Friday said that 13000 polling stations with vulnerable pockets had been identified and 292 companies of Central Forces would be deployed in the state to boost confidence among the voters as well.
Ludhiana, May 17, 2024: To ensure free, fair and peaceful Lok Sabha elections, Special Director General of Police (Spl DGP) Law and Order Arpit Shukla on Friday said that 13000 polling stations with vulnerable pockets had been identified and 292 companies of Central Forces would be deployed in the state to boost confidence among the voters as well.
The Special DGP held a meeting with police officers of Ludhiana Commissionerate and DIG range to review the security arrangements and take stock of preparations for General Parliamentary Elections-2024.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Dhanpreet Kaur Randhawa, CP Ludhiana Kuldeep Singh Chahal, SSPs Amneet Kondal Navneet Singh Bains were present in the Amritsar meeting.
The Special DGP Arpit Shukla said the adequate force would be deployed in 13000 polling stations with vulnerable pockets to ensure voters participate in the voting without any kind of fear and inducement. He directed all the police officers to not let anyone disturb peace and harmony in the state. He ordered officers to intensify the checking of vehicles, especially commercial vehicles, entering and exiting the state to check the influx of narcotics and illicit liquor. He also directed all the officers to make special efforts to nab accused persons involved in heinous crimes, drug smuggling and bootlegging, besides, expediting the investigation and prosecution of cases of election-related offences.
Meanwhile, the special DGP also apprised officers about the norms for deployment of forces at normal polling locations, and critical and vulnerable polling locations, which will be provided CAPF forces in addition to Punjab Police. He also informed officers about the norms regarding providing security to the candidates.
