14.10 lakh-MT paddy reach in grain markets, agencies procure 97.71 % -DC

Ludhiana, November 14, 2024: Deputy Commissioner Jitendra Jorwal on Thursday said that the district administration has been ensuring smooth and hassle free procurement and lifting of the paddy.
Presiding over a meeting to review the progress of the procurement and lifting of the grains in the grain markets across the district, the Deputy Commissioner said that on the directions of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the district administration was firmly committed for completing the procurement and lifting without any inconvenience to the farmers. He said that elaborate arrangements were made by the administration to facilitate the farmers.
The Deputy Commissioner categorically told about 18 lakh metric tons of paddy was expected in the grain markets of the district during this procurement season. He said that since the start of procurement of grains in the district, 14.10 lakh metric ton paddy had arrived into the grain markets out of which 97.71 percent had been procured by various agencies till November 13. He said that out of payments worth Rs 3041.70 crores had been paid to the farmers for their produce.
Prominent among the present on the occasion included ADC Amarjit Bains, Assistant Commissioner Kritika Goyal, DFSCs Geeta Bishambu, Shivali Chopra and heads of various agencies and Mandi Board were also present.
