148 students of Central University of Punjab excel in UGC and CSIR NET/JRF June 2024 Exams
The Central University of Punjab has once again demonstrated its academic excellence with 148 students from 22 departments successfully clearing the UGC and CSIR NET & JRF exams hel8 in June 2024. The results, announced last month, highlight the university's dedication to nurturing highly competent graduates prepared for academic and professional challenges.
Bathinda, November 19, 2024: The Central University of Punjab has once again demonstrated its academic excellence with 148 students from 22 departments successfully clearing the UGC and CSIR NET & JRF exams hel8 in June 2024. The results, announced last month, highlight the university's dedication to nurturing highly competent graduates prepared for academic and professional challenges.
Among the successful 148 students, 21 cleared National Eligibility Test (NET) for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and appointment as Assistant Professor, 65 students qualified the NET for appointment as Assistant Professor and admission to Ph.D. and 62 students achieved it for admission to Ph.D. only in Indian universities and colleges.
The Department of English led the success with 21 qualifiers, followed by the Department of Psychology with 19, the Department of Law with 14, and the Departments of Botany and Physical Education with 12 each. Other disciplines with successful candidates include Economic Studies, Sociology, South and Central Asian Studies, Education, Zoology, Environmental Science, Geography, Hindi, Mass Communication and Media Studies, Microbiology, History, Punjabi, Applied Agriculture, Library and Information Science, Pharmacology, Financial Administration, and Chemistry.
During the 2023-24 academic year, a total of 183 students from CU Punjab qualified in the NET/JRF examinations conducted in June and December. Notably, the university demonstrated remarkable progress, with 148 students successfully clearing the NET/JRF examination in June 2024 alone.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari lauded the students' achievements, emphasizing the university’s commitment to fostering academic rigor and preparing students for competitive landscapes. “This success showcases the effectiveness of our innovative reforms under NEP-2020, including the Learning Outcomes-Based Curriculum Framework (LOCF), student-centric pedagogies, and advanced teaching-learning methodologies,” he said.
Prof. Tiwari credited this accomplishment to the dedicated efforts of CUP’s faculty and the university’s initiatives such as soft skills training, interview workshops, and motivational seminars, which have significantly contributed to student development.
