Reviewing election related preparedness, the District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Wednesday directed all officers to ensure implementation of model code of conduct in letter and spirit besides initiating action as per the guidelines of the ECI, in case of any violation once the poll schedule is announced.

Ludhiana, March 13, 2024: Reviewing election related preparedness, the District Election Officer (DEO)-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney on Wednesday directed all officers to ensure implementation of model code of conduct in letter and spirit besides initiating action as per the guidelines of the ECI, in case of any violation once the poll schedule is announced.

While presiding over a meeting with the officers responsibile for enforcement of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in all constituencies and others concerned at DAC, the District Election Officer said that all the  teams should be made properly aware about their duties and responsibilities and asked the officers to get their teams ready for action as soon as MCC gets enforced. 

Instructing the officials to send timely reports, She said that the MCC teams, including Assistant Expenditure Observers, Flying Squads and Video Surveillance, Video Viewing Teams and Static Surveillance Teams must swing into action once the MCC comes into force. 

Sawhney said that no one should take poll related works lightly and stressed on the role of team work in ensuring free and fair conduct of polls. She said that the meticulous planning and execution could be immensely helpful in smooth conduct of elections in Ludhiana having 2657496 voters including 1417816 male and 1239534 female and 146 transgender voters so far. She also asked them about the preparations being made at total 2919 polling stations.
