16-Member district task force formed for Covid-19 vaccination programme in Ludhiana
Healthcare workers will be administered Covid-19 vaccine in first phase
Ludhiana: To formulate a strategy to conduct the first of its kind massive Covid-19 vaccination programme, the district administration has set up a 16-member district task force (DTF) for COVID-19 vaccine committee headed by Deputy Commissioner Ludhiana Varinder Kumar Sharma.
The committee also comprises Commissioner of Police (CP) Ludhiana Rakesh Agrawal, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC development) Sandeep Kumar, Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga besides District Immunisation Officer, District Programme Officer, District Education Officer Elementary and Secondary, District Public Relations Officer, Monitoring and Evaluation Officer, Representatives from Indian Medical Association (IMA), Nehru Yuva Kender, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and World Health Organisation (WHO), Commander NCC and Coordinator NSS.
While addressing the first meeting held at Bachat Bhawan here on Thursday, Deputy Commissioner Varinder Kumar Sharma said that the vaccination process is expected to start in coming weeks and in the first phase all the healthcare workers from Government and Private Hospitals will be administered the vaccination.
He directed the concerned officials to register the names of all the healthcare beneficiaries on a website so that they can get themselves vaccinated in the first phase.
Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Bagga informed the Deputy Commissioner that the health department has registered names of around 15000 healthcare workers in the district and the process of uploading the names of beneficiaries is underway.
Dr Bagga said that they have set up 67 cold chain points and have adequate number of Ice Lined Refrigerators (ILRs) and Deep Freezers in the district to preserve the vaccine in the required temperature.
He said that there will be 805 session sites— where vaccines will be administered to the beneficiaries in the district. He said that as many as 442 ANMs in the district will administer the vaccination to the beneficiaries and 43 supervisors have been deputed to monitor the vaccination process.
