1625 polling booths to be set up in Kangra district: DC

Dharamsala, October 15, 2022: “In the assembly elections-2022, 1625 polling booths will be set up in 15 assembly constituencies of Kangra district  of the Himachal ,in which 291 are hypersensitive and 158 are critical polling stations, “said  Deputy Commissioner, Dr Nipun Jindal, on Saturday. Dr Jindal  said that the total number of voters in the district is 1328516, in which male voters are six lakh 78 thousand 28, female voters six lakh 50 thousand 488 voters.

 The number of new voters in the age group of 18-19 years is 34926 while the number of senior citizen voters above the age of eighty years is 35,575. He said that Sidhbari polling station in Dharamsala has the maximum number of 1475 voters.

Talking to the media in Dharamsala today ,Deputy Commissioner Dr Nipun Jindal said that proper arrangements have been made for strong rooms and counting centers in all the constituencies. He said that e-Catch Kangra Administrative Tracking Election App has been prepared for monitoring expenditure of political parties and candidates in Kangra district. He said that necessary training is also being imparted to the expenditure monitoring teams on the use of e-Catch app so that better monitoring of expenditure can be ensured during elections.

He said that in order to ensure free and fair voting, the Election Commission of India has launched the mobile app C Vigil, through this app the general public will be able to report violations of the Model Code of Conduct. He said that grievances received through CVigil App should also be ensured to be redressed within 100 minutes.

Kangra district is the largest populated district among all 12 districts of Himachal, the district has  15 assembly seats out of 68 total seats in  the state assembly.

Himachal will go to poll on 12 th November and the counting of the votes shall be done on 8 th December.

In the outgoing assembly of the state BJP has 45 seats, Congress Party has 20,CPM has one and there are 2 independent MLAs.
