1650 Unaided Colleges forced to demand fees from 2.5 lakhs SC students: Dr Anshu Kataria

Ludhiana: Joint Association of Colleges (JAC) urged govt to complete Post Matric Scholarship enquiry before 20th September. JAC further asserted that, the Govt should immediately release 309 crores & should clarify that who will pay the balance 1500 crores?

S. Jagjit Singh, President & Dr. Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, JAC said that if Govt does not disburse the released amount & does not clarify the situation, then 1650 unaided colleges will be forced to demand fee from 2.5 lakhs SC students who are studying free from 3-4 years.

S. Manjeet Singh, Patron, JAC & Dr. Anshu Kataria, Co- Chairman, JAC said that for the last 3-4 years the govt. has done nothing except audit & enquiry. Neither govt. has released the scholarship nor the students have paid fees. Gradually outstanding amount kept on increasing & has touched 1850 crores.

Nirmal Singh, Senior Vice President, JAC; Sh. Shimanshu Gupta, Finance Secretary, JAC; S. Rajendra Singh Dhanoa, Secretary, JAC; S. Jasnik Singh Kakkar, S. Satvinder Singh Sandhu, Sh. Vipan Sharma, Vice Presidents, JAC were present. In the meeting, it was resolved to demand fees from students as the govt has failed to pay post matric scholarship from the last 3-4 years.
