16968 Cases disposed off on spot during National Lok Adalat
Rs 102.03 crore recovered as compensation
Ludhiana, September 11, 2021: As many as 16968 cases were disposed off on the spot during the National Lok Adalat organized here by the District Legal Services Authority today at the District Judicial Complex.
Divulging the details, Secretary District Legal Services Authority Prabhjot Singh Kaleka said that said that National Lok Adalat was organized in the district under the leadership of Chairman of District Legal Services Authority and District and Session Judge Munish Singal.
He said that during this National Lok Adalat 31 benches at district and six in sub-divisional levels were constituted for pending criminal compoundable cases in courts including traffic chalans, banks and others.
Singh said that during the National Lok Adalat 24143 cases were listed for hearing before these benches out of which 16968 were solved on the spot.
Secretary District Legal Services Authority said that the compensation worth Rs 102.03 crore was settled during these Lok Adalats.
He said that people could approach the District Legal Services Authority or the concerned courts for the settlement of cases through the Lok Adalats. Singh said that the decision of Lok Adalat was the final, which could not be challenged further.
He said that Lok Adalats were instrumental in saving time and money of the people besides promoting harmony amongst the people.
He said that the people could also get their cases resolved through the Mediation Centre in the District Judicial Complex.
He further said that people also could approach the front office of the authority in Court Complex for free legal aid.
