18769 Graduands receive their degrees and diplomas during virtual convocation 2020 at Amity University
286 gold medals, 276 silver medals, 161 bronze medals, and 219 Ph.D's were awarded to the meritorious students
In continuation of its efforts to create global citizens, 18769 graduands received their degrees, diplomas, and certificates from Amity University during the virtual Convocation 2020 ceremony. These students graduated from Amity University campuses at Noida, Greater Noida, Lucknow, Tashkent, and Dubai.
On this occasion, Dr. Renu Khator, Chancellor & President, University of Houston, and Dr. Siva Kumari, Director-General of the International Baccalaureate Organisation was conferred upon Honorary Doctorate Degrees in Philosophy. Prof. Rattan Lal, World Food Prize Laureate and Distinguished Professor, Ohio State University, USA was awarded Honorary Doctorate Degree in Science.
Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan, Founder President, Amity Education Group congratulated the Amazing Amity Alumnus & the graduating students along with their families on the 16th convocation of Amity University taking his vision forward. He asked students to fix their aim in life and not deter from any problems they face. He also urged them to work towards making India a global superpower.
Declaring the ‘Convocation 2020’ open, Dr. Atul Chauhan, Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh congratulated all the graduating along with their families and faculty members. He apprised that Amity has nurtured the students to be the most dedicated, loyal, and honest professionals who are provided with the best professional education along with values and sanskaar. Dr. Chauhan urged the graduands to stay humble in success, have humanity, and help those in need. He asserted his belief that Amitians will work towards making the world a better place. He further assured the gathering that Amity is continuously thriving towards creating a foundation that will be a pride of the Nation.
In her acceptance speech, Dr. Renu Khator talked about her simple life journey from a small town in India and urged students to dream big. She further advised them to live their dreams with passion, keep moving forward, and never quit in life. She suggested the graduating students to be humble, allow education to set them free, and help contribute to making the world a better place to live.
Prof. Rattan Lal while accepting the Honorary Doctorate Degree asked the graduands to give back love, respect, and care to their families and their institution for supporting them in achieving their mission. He suggested them to continue their learning at a higher pace, work hard to fulfil their dreams, and to change the world to make it a better place for all inhabitants. Sharing his guiding principles Prof. Lal stated that mother earth is a source of all nourishment of mind, body & soul and all human’s well-being is intricately connected with mother earth and the planet. He added that hard work, commitment to excellence & perseverance can help achieve everything. Prof. Lala encouraged students to keep the principle of ‘The world is one family’ always in mind as they embark on their journey of life.
Dr. Siva Kumari while accepting her degree shared that education is the key to make human beings better, opening hearts & minds, and find the inner strength to bring about a change in the world. She stated that both intellectual and social-emotional qualities are the key to success. She averred that it’s not just acquiring grades but making use of that learning for the benefit of many is important. She advised students to have a purpose in life and follow their values & sanskars including respecting elders and their colleagues.
Dr. Sean Tompkins, CEO, Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) congratulated students on their academic success in an extremely challenging year. He shared the resilience they’ve shown this year will help them tide over challenges in the future as well. He averred that redefining value for social good will be the benchmark for all future projects. He suggested following standards as a vehicle for responsible growth around the world and put people and their needs at the centre of projects globally. He also emphasized on realising the transformative power of technology & data.
Highlighting the pioneering accomplishments of Amity University in the previous academic year, Dr. (Prof.) Balvinder Shukla, Vice-Chancellor, Amity University Uttar Pradesh said that Amity has been rewriting and reshaping the educational benchmark under the visionary leadership of Founder President, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan and Chancellor AUUP. Dr. Shukla called upon the Graduands to go forth and keep the Amity flag high as they are the brand ambassadors of their alma mater & follow the footsteps of the Hon’ble Founder President. She stated that it is the amalgamation of professional excellence, personal experience, and social consciousness that will make them succeed.
During the evening, 286 gold medals, 276 silver medals, 161 bronze medals, and 219 Ph.D's were awarded to the meritorious students. Also, 195 students were bestowed with Shri Baljit Shastri Award for Best in Human & Traditional Values and one student each was given Maj Gen K Jai Singh Medal and Shri Mahashay Dharampal Gulati (MDH) Medal. 13 students were awarded Corporate Awards in a unique online ceremony that was attended by thousands of students along with their families across the globe.
