19 medals bagged by CGC students in Chandigarh state powerlifting & weightlifting championship

Students of Chandigarh Group of Colleges, Landran clinched 19 medals including 4 Gold, 8 Silver and 7 Bronze in the Chandigarh State Powerlifting and Weightlifting Championship (Men and Women). The championship was inaugurated by Chandigarh Powerlifting Association president, KDS Nagra. The Men junior category in powerlifting included squat, bench press and dead lift under 6 different weight categories and 85 power lifters participated in this championship from various colleges, weightlifting centers and clubs. Engineering student, Annant Sharma bagged Gold in the 59Kg category while, Harsh Chug and Manik Kumar grabbed the top position in 74Kg and 83kg respectively. The women powerlifting category witnessed 1 silver by Jyoti (49kg) and 2 bronze by Shalika (71kg) and Saya Dubey (81kg); all of them being MBA Students from CGC Landran. Amongst the weightlifters, 7 men and 3 women players from CGC Landran took part in championship. Abhishek Kumar and Divyansh Bhardwaj bagged silver and bronze respectively in the 81kg category. A gold in Women (49kg) category by Jyoti from Chandigarh Business school of Administration added feather to the cap of CGC Landran. Satnam Singh Sandhu, Chairman, CGC Landran and Rashpal Singh Dhaliwal, President, CGC Landran congratulated the students for their praise-worthy achievement and stressed on the significance of sports for the holistic development of a child.
