1st Lady Dentist of the country to hand over White Coats to BDS/MDS 1st Year students at PU

Chandigarh, November 21, 2016: Dr.Harvansh Singh Judge Institute of Dental Sciences Panjab University (PU), Chandigarh would organize White Coat Ceremony and Induction Programme to welcome BDS and MDS first year students on November 22, 2016 at Law Auditorium, PU.
The first lady Dentist of India and PU alumnus from Lahore Dental College Dr.Vimal Sood would hand over the White Coats to BDS/MDS 1st Year students at PU.
Dr. Sood graduated from Panjab University, Lahore in 1944.
The White Coat Ceremony is being organized to help the dental students to establish a psychological contract for the practice of dentistry. The event is designed around new students for providing information about program and student
services. The ceremony would also help students to know faculty members, administrative staff and will enhance college experience.
The White Coat Ceremony is a “rite of passage” for dental college students.
The event emphasizes the importance of the foundational mission of the institution: education, research, patient care and service. The white coat is a symbolic, non-verbal communication used to express and reaffirm a fundamental belief in a system
that society observes.
On the occasion, the students would swear a professional oath before the assembled group, publicly acknowledging their new responsibilities and their willingness to assume the obligations of their new profession.
