Meerut, June 25 (HS): Officials stated on Sunday that two livestock traffickers were apprehended during an encounter in the district's Kharkhauda area. Their three accomplices, on the other hand, escaped and are being sought, they added. "Acting on a tip-off, a team from the Kharkhauda police station raided a village during the early hours," said Senior Superintendent of Police Rohit Singh Sajwan. ?The police unit encircled three livestock traffickers, who opened fire in an attempt to flee. In retaliatory fire by the police, one of the smugglers was hit in the leg. Shadab, a resident of Ghosipura in Kharkhauda, was shot in the leg. Aftab, another smuggler, was arrested alongside him," stated Sajwan. The police have filed a FIR and begun an inquiry into the event. A squad has been organised to track down and apprehend the fugitive smugglers.
