2-Day 46th AIESCB "Tug of War" tournament kicks off with enthusiasm in Patiala
The 2-Day 46th AIESCB "Tug of War" tournament was inaugurated with great fervour on Monday at the PSPCL Sports Complex, Patiala. The event commenced with the assembly of participating teams, followed by the ceremonial welcome of the Chief Guest, Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary, Power and CMD, PSPCL.

Patiala, April 21, 2025: The 2-Day 46th AIESCB "Tug of War" tournament was inaugurated with great fervour on Monday at the PSPCL Sports Complex, Patiala. The event commenced with the assembly of participating teams, followed by the ceremonial welcome of the Chief Guest, Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary, Power and CMD, PSPCL.
The tournament opened with a warm welcome by the Reception Committee and an introduction of the Chief Guest to the observer of AIESCB and managers of various teams. A formal welcome address was delivered by Jasbir Singh Sur Singh, Director Admin, PSPCL, after which the Chief Guest hoisted the flag, marking the official start of the event. A spirited march past by the teams was followed by the Chief Guest declaring the tournament open. The teams took the oath and the competition officially began.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajoy Kumar Sinha, Principal Secretary Power and CMD, PSPCL, appreciated their determination, team spirit, and sportsmanship. He said, “Sports not only builds physical strength but also fosters unity, discipline, and leadership among individuals. It is heartening to see such enthusiastic participation and teamwork. PSPCL remains committed to promoting a culture of fitness, collaboration, and sportsmanship across all levels.”
Er. Tej Pal Bansal, Deputy Chief Engineer/Technical and Director of the Tournament, expressed his gratitude to all the teams and guests for their enthusiastic participation and support. He said the outstanding achievements of the PSPCL Sports Cell are a testament to the talent, determination, and renewed spirit within our organisation. He also lauded Raj Kumar, Junior Sports Officer and para badminton player (Arjuna Awardee), who brought laurels to the nation. He won a silver medal in men's doubles at the Para Asian Games held in October 2023 in China, and another silver medal at the Para Badminton World Championship in February 2024 in Thailand.
Teams from Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttarakhand participated in the tournament today.
The closing ceremony of the tournament will be held on April 22, with Power Minister Harbhajan Singh ETO as the chief guest.
