2-day international symposium on role of science in the post covid 19 era

Ludhiana: Gujranwala Guru Nanak Khalsa College, Ludhiana organised a Two day international symposium on ‘Role of science in the post Covid 19 era’ on 28th and 29th May 2020 in online mode. The registrations from all streams such as physics, chemistry, botany, zoology, agriculture, computer science, mathematics, political science, social sciences, humanities and literature subjects.
Dr. M.P.S. Ishar (Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Technical University, Bhatinda) was the Chief Guest and addressing the Symposium. Dr. Arvind, Professor & Coordinator Outreach, (Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Mohali) and Prof. (Dr.) Amjad Husain, CEO, (Innovation and Incubation Centre for Entrepreneurship, Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Bhopal) delivered the lectures.
Chief guest of Symposium, Dr. M.P.S. Ishar addressed the participants by emphasizing upon the value of basic and applied sciences for the fields of research and development and he shed light upon the time and mind being devoted by the world level researchers (biologists and medical scientists) to find the vaccine for the cure of Covid-19.
Dr. Arvind delivered his talk about Quantum Biology in which he explained the applications of quantum mechanics and theoretical chemistry to biological objects and problems.
Prof. (Dr.) Amjad Husain, CEO, (Innovation and Incubation Centre for Entrepreneurship, Indian Institute of Science Education & Research, Bhopal) delivered his lecture on the topic of personalized approach using genomics for the better treatment of cancer in technical session.
Dr S. P. Singh highlighted the need of such events in educational institutions during this pandemic that hits all spheres of life. These kinds of events provide opportunities to academicians, research scholars and students to learn even during this frozen period of lockdown. He told that the Gujranwala Khalsa Educational Council has always been supporting the progressive approach of providing quality education, he added.
S. Arvinder Singh, honorary General Secretary said that in the era of web and technology, there's nothing which can stop the learners to learn and the college is committed for the excellence in everything.
Dr. Arvinder Singh, college Principal said that this symposium is an opportunity to utilise the time in learning about the new challenges which would be encountered by most of the people once the situation comes to normalcy. Dr. Geetan Jallan, convenor and Prof. Jaspreet Kaur (Co- Convener) gave the vote of thanks.
