2-Day photo exhibition “One Thousand Words” begins
On the World Photography Day, 2-day photo exhibition "One Thousand Words" by Ludhiana photojournalist Association at Dr. Mahinder Singh Randhawa Art Gallery, Punjabi Bhawan near Bharat Nagar Chowk Ludhiana begins today.
Ludhiana, August 19, 2022: On the World Photography Day, 2 -day photo exhibition "One Thousand Words" by Ludhiana photojournalist Association at Dr. Mahinder Singh Randhawa Art Gallery, Punjabi Bhawan near Bharat Nagar Chowk Ludhiana begins today.
Sanjeev Arora, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) was the chief guest and Saumya Mishra, Joint CP Law & Order Ludhiana was Guest of honour at the opening ceremony of 2-day photo exhibition.
Vir Chakra awardee Lt Col Harbant Singh Kahlon (retd), Ranjodh Singh, Industrialist cum photo lover, GurIqbal Singh Gen Sec. Punjabi Bhawan, Pritpal Singh, Pardhan, Gurudawara Dukhniwaran Sahib, MLA Madan Lal Bagga, Zonal Commissioner Jasdev Singh Sekhon and and number of councillors were also visited the photo exhibition and appreciated the work of photo Journalists.
The theme of the exhibition is "One Thousand's Words" where 42 Pics of 21 photojournalists from leading national and regional newspapers are displayed in this photo exhibition. Pics displayed in this exhibition represent various moods of Ludhiana and Ludhianvis. Officials and members of the Ludhiana Photojournalist Association welcomed the guests.
Speaking on the occasion, Sanjeev Arora, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) appreciated the photo-journalists who displayed their photographs in the exhibition. He said this is a good and appreciable initiative taken by the photo-journalists who exhibit their talent and creativity before Ludhianavis who turned out in a great numbers to witness the exhibition.
He remarked that all the photographs displayed in the exhibition were of off-beat nature depicting various aspects, including life, nature and religion. Every photograph itself was a “complete story”, he further remarked. He hoped that such exhibitions would also be held regularly in the future also.
Further, he said photography is really close to his heart. “When I studied In YPS Patiala my hobby was photography in school”, he said, adding, “These were the days when you never knew quality of picture till it was developed. Any picture which came out nicely was like a dream come true. We used to go in Dark Room after school for developing pictures. Photography has really progressed over years.”
Arora said photography is art and it should be treated that way. “I have a feeling that photography should be more focused on nature, wildlife and reality of life”, he said, adding, “Pictures exhibited on the occasion by various media photographers are par excellence.” He suggested all photographers to monetize their work by using online platforms and participating in various exhibitions. “Last but not least all pictures should be worth minimum of 1000 words”, he commented.
With regard to a demand raised by Ludhiana Photojournalist Association that there is no proper and permanent place for organising such exhibitions in the city, Arora assures them that he will do the needful after getting a proposal in this regard .

There are various aspects that need to be contemplated during photography and all the photo journalist displays their best art in front of Ludhiana people.”
This photo exhibition will conclude on August 20, 2022. Surabhi Malik, Deputy Commissioner, Ludhiana will be the chief guest and Balkar Singh Sandhu, Mayor of Ludhiana will be the guest of honour on that occasion.
