`2 to Tango 3 to Jive’ forces audience to clap and laugh at regular intervals

Ludhiana, August 25, 2013: On Saturday evening, Ludhiana Sanskritik Samagam (LSS) brought Ashvin Gidwani’s `2 to Tango 3 to Jive’ (Hinglish play, mixed of Hindi and English languages) by Surabh Shukla starring Achint Kaur, Sadiya Siddique, Preiti Mamgain and Saurabh Shukla.
Play was staged at Guru Nanak Dev Bhawan, Ludhiana at 7-30 pm.
The play marked the comeback of protagonist Saurabh Shukla to theatre after an 18-years-long hiatus. He got his first break when Shekhar Kapur, impressed with his work- created a role for him in Bandit Queen. Shukla’s biggest break came when he co-wrote the script of Ram Gopal Verma’s 1998 cult classic `Satya’ and essayed the role of gangster Kallu Mama in the film. He has by now done numerous films/television show. Recently, he appeared in `Barfi’ and Jolly LLB.
The play `2 to Tango 3 to Jive’ was a creative take on life after marriage, extramarital affairs and complications involved in the same. The story of the play revolves around the life of Parminder Singh Sethi (played by Saurabh Shukla), a hotelier and his attempts to have a fling outside his marriage. It was about what happened when the proverbial midlife crisis knocks and barged the doors of Parminder Singh Sethi’s mundane existence caught between continuing with his monotonous life and the enticing prospect of turning things around, the play chronicled his journey. It ebbed and flowed with practical comic confusing and passionate tides.
Parminder was a confused guy and wanted to sleep with three women but ended up doing nothing That’s life.
Those in the audience everywhere were clapping and laughing at regular intervals. They enjoyed the satire and sarcasm. The audience really liked the way Saurabh handled his character. There was so much emotion in his role. The audience also said the three women were distinct and unique in their role and appearance the women added a lot of zest to the play and each have own personality; played by Achint Kaur, Preiti Mamgain and Sadiya Siddique.
This was the 91st performance of LSS in the city yesterday. All those who witnessed the play would surely remind it in their memories for a longer period.
