21 Pedal4Peace Bicyclists reaches Lyallpur Khalsa College

Jalandhar, March 25, 2024: On the second day of ‘Pedal4Peace Bicycle Yatra from Chandigarh to Wagah Border Amritsar, 21 bicyclists from Karnataka, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Chandigarh, reached Lyallpur Khalsa College, Jalandhar via Khatkar Kalan, Banga. 

This endeavour to promote the legacy of thoughts of Shaheed-A-Azam Bhagat Singh for peaceful and united South Asia was jointly organized by Yuvsatta (youth for peace) and International Sikh Confederation. 

At Lyallpur Khalsa College, the peace loving bicyclists were received by Principal Dr. JaspalSingh, Head of Sports Department Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains and their students. 

In his welcome address sharing the rich history of Lyallpur Khalsa College Principal Dr.Jaspal Singh said that their over 100 years old College isa multi-faculty co-educational college, which is one of the biggest colleges in the region in context of student strength, academic courses offered and co-curricular and sports achievements. 

Thanking the management of Lyallpur Khalsa College for their wonderful hospitality and warm welcome Mr. Pramod Sharma, founder of Yuvsatta said that though their initial plans were to reach the birthplace of Shaheed Bhagat Singh at village Bange in Faisalabad, Pakistan, but due to non-issuance of visas, they now feel themselves as lucky to visit a college, which initially was started in home town of Shaheed Bhagat Singh i.e. Lyallpur-which is now known as Faisalabad in Pakistan. The cyclists are also carrying Peace books by Mahatma Gandhi and All India Pingalwara Society, Peace Seeds, Peace Symbols & Peace Saplings and as a token of thanks they presented a set of the same to Dr. Jaspal Singh, Principal and Dr. Simranjeet Singh Bains at Lyallpur Khalsa College.

Later in the day, the bicyclists did some sports equipment shopping at markets of Jalandhar, which is famous for sports goods. 
Col. BS Multani of International Sikh Confederation said that tomorrow early morning this group will leave for Amritsar’s Wagah border, via a brief stopover at Radha Soami Satsang, Beas. 

Brig. Ravi Muniswamy, Rtd., chief coordinator of the programme also thanked the Punjab Police officials of Jalandhar for coordinating so well their visit to this famous city of Punjab. Attached: Few pictures of the day.
