21St Annual Athletic and Sports Meet organised on DAVIET Campus

Jalandhar, March 15, 2023: D.A.V Institute of Engineering & Technology, Jalandhar, organized the 21stAnnual Athletic and Sports Meet on March 14, in its Sports Arena. Avtar Singh Henry Junior (Bawa Henry) MLA (North) was the Chief Guest in the inaugural ceremony. Dr. Ramesh Kumar Arya, Vice President, DAVCMC, New Delhi, graced the inaugural ceremony as Guest of Honour. Arvind Ghai, Secretary, DAVCMC, New Delhi, graced the occasion as guest of honour during the closing ceremony of the Meet.

The Chief Guest declared the Sports Meet open by releasing the balloons. The students mesmerized the audience by presenting cultural events.

Dr. Sanjeev Naval, Principal (O), DAVIET, gave a rapturous welcome to the Guests, participants, sportspersons, and all dignitaries present on occasion. In his address, he focused on the value of sports in the overall development of personality. He admired the unique skills and talent of the students. He appreciated the students' hard work and smart work, which is the need of the hour. He motivated the students to participate in sports with full zeal, fervor, and academics. He thanked the guests for their visit to the Institute as it would inspire the students. He congratulated Jaswinder Singh Dhillon, President of Sports, for organizing such a mega event.

Bawa Henry, MLA (North), showered his blessings upon the students. In his speech, he stated that sports are essential for the overall development of youngsters. He appreciated the Institute for providing a sports platform to the students along with academic and cultural activities. He congratulated the participants and encouraged them to continue the same efforts in every field of their life. Further, he revealed that theoretical and practical knowledge is very much essential now- a- days. He showed his commitment to the cause of providing opportunities for students to show their hidden talents in the sporting arena.

Dr. Ramesh Kumar Arya, Vice President, DAVCMC, New Delhi, showered his blessings upon the students. In his speech, he expressed his deep love for sports. He focused on hard work and a balanced diet to become a good sports person. He also shared that, medically speaking, participation in sports plays a pivotal role in keeping our body and mind healthy. He encouraged the players to give their best and excel in their respective sports categories.

Arvind Ghai, secretary of DAVCMC New Delhi, appreciated the participants' performance and dedication. He stated that participating in sports and games is of utmost importance as they make the students physically fit and mentally strong. He also highlighted the fact that while performing in the sports arena, students become adept at sportsmanship and team spirit and learn to stretch themselves beyond their comfort zones to achieve their games. He appreciated the efforts made by the Institute to provide the students with a platform to showcase their talents.

The players participated in 100 m, 200m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m, shot put, discus throw, long jump, 4X100m, 4X400m relay race, and Tug of War, both in the category of men and women. A large number of students participated in the events. After a cutthroat competition, the outstanding performers were short-listed for the grand finale.

The Athletic Meet was concluded with the distribution of prizes to the winners.
